A Bit about Jo
Jo Hameister is the woman behind The Cake & I. She started her business in 2007 with a large batch of cupcakes made for a friend who had given up trying to find the perfect cake to celebrate her wedding. Jo came up with the solution by making each of the wedding guests a chocolate and date cupcake adorned with the couple's initials on top of ganache icing, her friend was thrilled with the outcome and the cupcakes were a huge hit! From this point on friends have told friends, who have told friends and so on to ensure she has been kept very busy.
Jo is trained in sugarcraft; she creates beautiful sugar flowers and funky motifs for just about any occasion. Her specialty is embarking on the unknown, creating a cake design to suit the order, for any event or circumstance. She can also cater for allergies and special dietary requirements. You can discuss every detail of your cake order with Jo over the phone or via email. She is the one who takes the orders, designs the cake and cooks it; this direct communication ensures a quality product every time.

We have a purpose built Commercial Kitchen built to Australian Standards (AS 4674-2004) and is shire approved.
The Cake and I is a business built on Jo's passion for food. She uses tried and tested recipes, wholesome ingredients, careful planning, a creative attitude and above all passion. Her cakes are testimony to this commitment.
